The South West of England has a incredible variety of building stones due to its complex geology. South Devon limestones, Dartmoor granite, schists and slatestones of West and North Devon and the South Hams. No surprise then that stone was used for nearly all old buildings. Each of these stone types require a slightly different approach due their composition and durability.
